Top 5 Favourite Pancake Flavours to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth
Pancake Day is often referred to as Shrove Tuesday. It has a fascinating history that stretches back centuries. The tradition emerged as a clever way to use up ingredients such as eggs, milk, and sugar before the onset of Lent. People would attend church to be “shriven,” meaning they confessed their sins, and subsequently, they would enjoy a hearty feast. Typically this included pancakes.
Over the years Pancake Day has become a fun way to cook with kids at home. Allowing the kids to get creative with their toppings and flavours.
Here is an unofficial list of the country’s Top 5 Favourite Pancake Flavours
Let’s start with the beloved classic. Plain Pancakes with a sprinkle of sugar and a squirt of lemon juice. These are a firm favourite in my house.
- Chocolate Chip Pancakes
If you’re a chocolate lover, you’ve got to try chocolate chip pancakes. These indulgent treats are filled with gooey pockets of chocolate in every bite. Add whipped cream, more chocolate chips, or even a drizzle of chocolate syrup for an extra dose of sweetness.
- Blueberry Pancakes
I’ve been told Blueberry pancakes are something else! (I personally don’t like them). You can toss in fresh or frozen berries right into the batter and the mix of sweet and sour is just perfect with maple syrup. They have a sweet sharpness about them that makes them really yummy.
- Strawberry Shortcake Pancakes
The Perfect Pancake Day Breakfast Treat. Indulge in a stack of light, fluffy pancakes, generously topped with succulent fresh strawberries, rich whipped cream, and a luscious drizzle of sweet syrup. This heavenly combination transforms breakfast into a truly delectable dessert experience!
- Nutella Pancakes
Indulge in layers of warm, fluffy pancakes generously spread with rich Nutella. Top them off with crunchy hazelnuts and luscious, vibrant berries for a truly irresistible combination that will tantalize your taste buds!
