Why I won’t be setting any New Year’s Resolutions this year and I am totally fine with it.
Every year around December 31st, the world seems to hit the reset button. There’s a sense of excitement in the air — fresh starts, new goals, endless possibilities. People are out there planning, writing down resolutions, and getting ready to take on the world in the new year. But me? I won’t be setting a personal New Year’s resolution. And honestly, it feels so good not to.
Here’s why I have chosen to skip the whole “New Year, New Me” thing.
1. Life is Full of Beautiful Surprises
Life is a continuous journey, and its unpredictability is what makes it beautiful. Instead of making rigid resolutions, I choose to embrace the idea that life will bring unexpected moments, challenges, and joys.
2. Letting Go of the Pressure
New Year’s resolutions often come with a lot of pressure. The expectations to work out every day, read a book each week, or completely renovate your home in a month can be overwhelming. When things don’t go as planned, it’s easy to feel defeated. By choosing not to set these resolutions, I’m allowing myself the freedom to embrace life as it happens.
3. I’m Already Enough – And So Are You!
The main reason I’m choosing to skip resolutions is that I already feel complete as I am. In a world that constantly urges us to do more, be more, and change ourselves, I’ve decided to celebrate who I am right now. I am a plus-size, 40-year-old woman who is loved and accepted by those who matter most to me—my family, especially my children. It has taken time, but I have reached a place of self-acceptance, and it feels wonderful to be here! I don’t need to change anything to be worthy, and neither do you!
So, there you have it: I’m choosing not to set New Year’s resolutions. Instead, I embrace the beauty of the everyday, focusing on being present, celebrating everyday life and finding ease in who I am.
If that’s not your thing and you have a New Year’s Resolution Planned, I wish you every success in achieving it during 2025.
Lisa 🙂
