What to expect from your Newborn Photoshoot in my Whitchurch, Hampshire based studio

Welcoming a baby into your family is a wonderful time.  You have waited for so long for this moment to arrive.

You won’t believe how quickly the newborn stage will pass you by.

Medical Professionals refer to your baby as a newborn for the first 4 weeks of their life. By which time they are far more alert, spending more time awake, gaining weight and are a lot less curly than they were just 28 days ago.

This is why Newborn Photography is so important.  It allows this small window of time to be documented for you to look back on for your lifetime.

When to book your Newborn Photoshoot

I am taking bookings up until Easter of this year.  I recommend contacting me when you are 32 – 34 weeks pregnant to book your photoshoot but I will try my best to book you in if you contact me after this.

The best time for a Newborn Photoshoot is 7 -14 days old; we can go up to 28 days but the session will flow slightly differently with an older newborn.

What Props are used during the photoshoot?

During our booking communication I will ask you if you have any preferences to colours or if you have a favourite set up of mine that you have seen.  Are looking for neutrals? Traditional pink for a girl or blue for a boy? Maybe something seasonal?  I am happy to work with you.

How long will the photoshoot last?

A Newborn Session is 2-3 hours.  The time depends on how quickly baby falls into a deep sleep and whether you are having sibling and family shots as well.

How many people can come to the session?

I have a small studio space.  Parents and siblings only should come to your Newborn Photoshoot.  If you have young siblings, due to the amount of time the session can take I recommend bringing them at the beginning or end of the session as they may get bored. Grandparents and relatives are welcome if they are going to be photographed or if one of the parents are coming alone one adult is welcome to accompany Mum or Dad.

Should I bring formula?

If you are bottle feeding your baby bring enough formula for 5 bottles.  It is unlikely baby will drink it all, but we want sleepy babies with full tummies.  Breastfeeding Mums.  It has been known for baby to feed for up to an hour before being wrapped and ready to pose.  Don’t worry if your baby doesn’t settle straight away.

I look forward to welcoming you and your precious baby for your Newborn Photoshoot in my Whitchurch, Hampshire Based studio soon.
