Christmas Films List – 5 Christmas Films You Must See.

There’s no better way to get into the festive spirit than by watching Christmas Films. Whether you’re looking for laughter, heart warming moments, or a magical adventure, there’s a Christmas film for everyone…. Even Action Film Lovers can watch Die Hard!

Here is our families Christmas Films List for 2024

1. Elf (2003) – The first must see film on our Christmas Films List

Elf is a Christmas comedy that has become a Christmas classic. Will Ferrell’s portrayal of Buddy, a human raised by elves at the North Pole, is nothing short of iconic. When Buddy discovers that he’s not an elf, he travels to New York City to find his real father. Here he discovers not everyone is full of Festive Cheer like he is.

My kids love ELF because my youngest sees herself in Buddy.  She says she is a believer and she loves his excitement and enthusiasm towards all things Christmas.

2. The Grinch (2018)

Based on Dr. Seuss’s book How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the 2018 animated adaptation brings the Grinch to life in a vibrant way. Benedict Cumberbatch lends his voice to the mischievous character, who plans to ruin Christmas for all of Whoville by stealing their presents, decorations, and even their Christmas tree.

As a family, we much prefer the animated version of The Grinch than the film. Which do you prefer?

3. The Polar Express (2004)

The Polar Express is a stunning animated film directed by Robert Zemeckis. This magical film follows a young boy who embarks on a journey to the North Pole on Christmas Eve aboard the Polar Express, a train filled with adventurer.

My girls particularly love the Hot Chocolate Scene in this Christmas Film. Anything with Tom Hanks in will be a winner for me but this Christmas Film really captures the magic of Christmas.

4. The Christmas Chronicles (2018)

The Christmas Chronicles is a family adventure. The story follows Kate and Teddy Pierce, who set out to catch Santa; played by Kurt Russell on camera on Christmas Eve. When things go awry, they find themselves on a wild journey to save Christmas.

This is a Family Favourite, closely followed by The Christmas Chronicles 2.  Both Christmas Films are full of Christmas Magic and are perfect for a Family Movie Night.

5. A Boy Called Christmas (2021) – Our Final Film on our Christmas Film List

A Boy Called Christmas is a magical story. The film follows Nikolas, who goes on a journey through the snowy wilderness to find his father and bring hope to his village. Along the way, he finds magical creatures and discovers the true meaning of Christmas.

This is a truly beautiful film.  I first watched this film weeks after my dad passed away. Maggie Smith’s words “Grief is the price we pay for love” have never left me and have become quite a comfort to my Broken Heart.
