Exciting activities to keep the kids happy during Half Term.

Exciting activities to keep the kids happy during Half Term.

As a Hampshire Newborn and Family Photographer, I am lucky enough to be able to book the whole week off to make the most of the school holidays.  And I am proud to say we made it! half term is officially over, and I’m so proud of the kids for navigating the week with only a few minor arguments! There were the usual squabbles over who got to ride shotgun and some “that’s not fair” moments, but all things considered, they handled it like champs!

How did we manage this miracle?

Playdates, walks, baking and days out! Playdates are fab for children and parents. They give the kids something to do and a chance to burn off energy, while we get a well-deserved cuppa and the joy of having an adult to talk to. There’s something incredibly refreshing about having a conversation with another grown-up while the kids play. However, we did spend a good six hours at a friend’s house. Which ended with a Domino’s Pizza for all.  Is 6 hours too long, did I overstay my welcome???

National Trust Passes

We even made time for a few outings, including a trip to Stonehenge. Yes, I’m that parent who took their kids to see ancient rocks. The National Trust Passes came out again!  And to make it even more memorable, it was blowing a gale and pouring rain by the time we got back to the car. But those moments of chatting and playing with children they don’t see at school made the adventure all worthwhile. And another grown up for me to talk to lol

Trampoline Park Fun

Then, of course, there was the trampoline park. Grace bought a friend, and I watched all 3 children bouncing as if their life depended on it from the coffee shop above. If you don’t have an Atmosphere monthly pass, I highly recommend one!  Up to 2 hours of bouncing per day for £15 per child.

Milestones Museum

Another money-saving and great way to get the kids out for a few hours is a trip to Milestones Museum.  Pay once, visit all year.  This half term they had vintage games out for the kids to play as well as a trail to follow.

Free Local Events

On Saturday night, we checked out Basingstoke Glow, a free event at War Memorial Park where everything is lit up. It was super busy, but it was nice to do something different, and those colourful lights were awesome! That late night might have been a bit much for the girls, though, since they went back to school this morning with limited enthusiasm.
