New Year’s Resolutions: A December Check-In on Change, Unplanned Moments and Looking Ahead to 2026

December always feels like the perfect time to look back at New Year’s Resolutions. Not to rush into new New Year’s resolutions, but to check in on the ones we made a year ago. Has life unfolded in ways we never planned or have you carefully redeveloped yourself over the past 12 months?
Looking Back on Last Year’s New Year’s Resolutions
January, while many people were setting ambitious New Year’s resolutions, I chose not to make any at all. No goals written down. No pressure to reinvent myself. Instead, I decided that I was enough, just being me and that what I wanted most was to enjoy the everyday.
A Summer That Was Never Planned
In doing so, we didn’t book anything in for the School summer Holidays, which led to Unexpected camping trips where plans were made on the day. Dinghy sailing adventures that started small and turned into full afternoons on the water. The kind of moments you never plan for in January because you don’t know they’re coming.
And then, somewhere in the middle of it all, we welcomed a puppy into our lives.
A completely unplanned, energetic new arrival — definitely not on the January 2025 agenda. No one’s New Year’s Plan involved this big ball of fluff coming in and melting our hearts!

Checking In — How Did Your New Year’s Resolutions Go?
So this feels like the right moment to ask — how did your New Year’s resolutions turn out?
Did they stick?
Did they quietly fade by February?
Or did life come along with its own plans and change everything anyway?
Maybe your goals evolved. Maybe they were replaced by moments you couldn’t have predicted. Or maybe you discovered that leaving room for the unexpected can sometimes lead to the most meaningful memories.
Looking Ahead to 2026
Once again, there will be no New Year’s Resolutions set by me; I am open to whatever 2026 brings. So here’s to reflection instead of pressure. To curiosity instead of control. And to stepping into the next year with openness.
What will 2026 have in store for you? Are you going with the flow, or have you got plans to stick to? Whatever happens i wish you and your family health and happiness!
See you soon
Lisa 🙂
