Don’t hate me when I tell you… it’s 5 months until Christmas!!
Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, especially when you have young children to enjoy it with, but it can become overwhelming if you’re not prepared, or have lots to do at the last minute. The key to a stress-free Christmas is early planning and organisation, and it’s never too early to start!
By starting very early, you can spread out the tasks and enjoy a smooth and joyful celebration. In this blog post, we’ll share our favourite tips to help you stay organised and make this Christmas truly magical for you and the whole family.
1. Book Your Christmas Photoshoot!
My Christmas shoots are launching THIS WEEK! Get in early and book your slot, plan your Christmas Cards, presents for family, and have a really amazing and festive experience!
2. Organise your Christmas Calendar
A well-organised Christmas calendar is an indispensable tool to keep track of important dates and deadlines. Mark down important events like Christmas parties, school end of term, school plays and don’t forget those adult parties too! Plan your decorating and baking days, and schedule time for Christmas card writing so you have plenty of time to get them into the post before the deadline – especially if you have family and friends overseas!
Some Santa experiences sell out months aehad, and there are some lovely light shows to visit and craft faynes in the pipeline… you don’t want to double book! Having a visual overview of your commitments will help you to make sure you don’t miss out on any important traditions.
3. Make a Gift List
Not for you – but of what you’re buying for people! It makes it wasy to remember what you already have and what you are still to get. You can stick to a budget and pick things up over the coming months, to spread out what you spend and take advantage of sales and bargains when you see them, ad not double-buy for people when you forget what you already have!
4. Meal Planning Makes Life Simple!
If you’re hosting guests over the festive season, then planning meals and getting others involved will take the pressure off you. If anyone has an allergy, you can make a note of it to help organise dishes. And ask your guests to help, too! If you are cooking a hot meal, ask the guests to bring dessert. Or how about a buffet – and everyone brings a dish? It’s really popular in the USA to do a “pot luck” meal – everyone brings a dish and everyone gets stuck in! Why not adopt that tradition over here?!
