What to pack in your Hospital Bag and when to pack it is a question all expectant parents ask themselves. If you are you 34 weeks or more pregnant then you should have your hospital bag packed and ready to go or be starting to pack it very soon.
We know the basics, Hospital Notes, Baby Clothes, Toiletries including nipple pads, towels, nappies, Formula, change of clothes for you and your Birth Partner but what were the real life savers that mums had in their Hospital Bags?
If you’re just thinking about packing your Hospital Bag here are the top 5 things Mums on my Facebook Page recommend you include.
- Lip Balm
- Slippers
- Big Pants
- Sweet Treats/snacks
- Bottles of water
Lip Balm, Hospital Bag must have number 1
Staying hydrated isn’t the easiest thing in labour, combine that with gas and and air and you could find your lips getting very dry. Lip Balm will soothe that sore feeling so that you can focus on other things.
Slippers
You will want a pair of comfortable non slip slippers to walk around the hospital ward in. As an extra comfort you may want fluffy socks too.
Big Pants
After labour you are going to want comfort over style, ideally dark in colour incase of any leaks. Don’t forget the pads to go inside either!
Sweets & Snacks
You can’t be sure how long you will be in hospital and quite possibly a meal won’t be an option. Pack enough snacks for you and your birth partner for at least 2 – 3 days. If your anything like me you will be sending your Birthing Partner down to the Costa Coffee so don’t forget money.
Bottles of Water, the final Hospital Bag must have
You will want to stay as hydrated as possible. Bring a few bottles of water that you can refill during your hospital stay.
What have you packed, anything I have missed, pop it in the comments below.
Good Luck for labour days ladies, you’ve got this!
