Self Care

Mar 28, 2024

As a Mum, it can be difficult to find time for yourself and plan a Self Care Day. If you are anything like me you are constantly rushing around, making sure everyone else’s needs are met. When it comes to prioritising yourself it can make you feel guilty, or feel that it is something that can wait.

I’ve been getting lost in the cycle of life lately. I forget to make time for myself. But hubby and I went to the OVO Wembley Arena recently. We saw Fightstar. It felt amazing to do something I used to do before becoming a parent. Jumping up and down in a crowd of thousands of people. Screaming along to songs that once played in my car made me feel young again! My hubby was just there as a chaperone. He didn’t love it quite as much ha ha!  I’ve told him that next time it’s his choice what we do.

Fightstar Wembley Arena Self care Day

I asked mums who follow me on Social Media what they enjoy doing to rejuvenate their souls.

Here are their answers.

Going OUT OUT!!!

My aunt suggested this one. Her children are now grown up. She was able to suggest it without worrying about the need to entertain children while recovering from a hangover the next day ha ha. I don’t find going out for drinks enjoyable anymore for this reason.  What about you? Do you still enjoy going OUT OUT?

Afternoon Tea

Now this one sounds good and very grown up.  I’ve never been anywhere for Afternoon Tea before, but I like the idea of having lunch with friends and still being home for school pick-up. I know there are lots of lovely places locally that offer Afternoon Tea Packages, have you been to one you would recommend?

Spa Day

This sounds very relaxing.  I like the idea of cocktails around a warm indoor pool, followed by Sauna or jacuzzi. You could even add on having your nails done or a massage.

If going out isn’t an option for you, you could try and take 5 or 10 minutes a day to practice some breathing exercises or yoga. My lovely neighbour Sarah has been posting regularly on her Socials some quick tips for a healthier body and mind. You can follow her here

Whatever you like to do to unwind, don’t forget to prioritise taking a moment for Self Care and regrouping whenever you need it. I’ve been neglecting this, but it’s never too late to make positive changes in your life. Remember, you deserve to be the best version of yourself and by focusing on your well -being you can be a better caregiver.
